Pan’s Feast Story:
There is a scene in the movie “Hook” where Robin Williams character realizes who he really is in Neverland and why he is there. He must remember his childhood and hold on to those happy thoughts, happy memories of being a child. The children in this scene all are filled with delight in their eyes, their imaginations are fully intact. When they sit down to eat for the night the table is empty with no food, but with happy thoughts the table comes alive and full of color.
This artwork, the mediums used all remind me of that wonderful childhood scene in “Hook” where they have a food fight, covered in colorful food. The process of mixing the texture medium with acrylic alone makes me feel like a child, about to have a food fight with a canvas. The depths to the medium and what my mind creates when looking at it, the artwork, are limitless.
*This piece is currently displayed at Maven Space, downtown Indianapolis.
